There’s a lot to do to improve the world

We just want to take a different tack. Less shock, fear, and guilt. We’re keen to offer attendees more hope than they arrive with. To help them realise the many ways they can help. And build the belief that they can. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for content from the community that looks forwards with an optimistic lens. One of hope. But not naive hope. We’re looking for informed inspiration. Progressive positivity. Built on practical foundations for better, more preferable, futures.

We hope the following questions can help guide you:

This year, our home for the conference will be Royal Marine Hotel in Marine Rd, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.

Don’t fret, there are no leprechauns around, although if you want to catch one, Google tells us that they are near if you hear the tap-tap-tapping of a tiny cobbler hammer, driving nails into shoes…

Luciano Floridi has an impressive track record. He is, among many other things, the OII Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at the University of Oxford and Faculty Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute (ATI), member of the EU’s Ethics Advisory Group on Ethical Dimensions of Data Protection, and member of the Royal Society and British Academy Working Group on Data Governance, plus of Google’s Advisory Board on “the right to be forgotten”.

His areas of expertise include the philosophy of information, computer ethics, information ethics, data ethics and the philosophy of technology.

Lou Rosenfeld

Lou Rosenfeld has been instrumental in helping establish the fields of Information Architecture and User Experience, and in articulating the role and value of librarianship within those fields. Rosenfeld is co-author of Information Architecture for the Web and Beyond, also known as the polar bear book, and Search Analytics for Your Site, co-founder of the Information Architecture Institute and the Information Architecture Summit and Enterprise UX conferences, and a former columnist for Internet World, CIO, and Web Review magazines.
