Italy is famous for the Dolce Vita or Sweet Life, it’s delicious, typical cuisine & wines, and it is well known for its breathtaking beauty of stunning beaches, mountain ranges, desert like areas and rolling hills.

One of its hidden gems is the stunning island of Ischia, neighboring Sorrento, Amalfi and Capri.

Here are a few reasons why you should visit Italy’s island of Ischia.

Ischia is “the most beautiful thermal island in the world” and is the original place where the Greeks settled about 3,800 years ago. It’s an island to indulge in one of the spas or resorts, or simply listen to the waves and enjoy amazing Napoletan dishes. Legend has it, that from the top of the island, there is a can secret path to the centre of the Earth. Even the Ancient Greek gods raved about the beautiful, sandy beaches and free hot springs here.

After only a short ferry ride across the amazing Gulf of Naples, under the watchful eye of Mount Vesuvius, Ischia appears, a wonderland of natural hot springs, sandy beaches and delightful colors! You may take your car or even go without and take one of the taxis on the small island to get around!

Yes, it’s a beautiful island worth exploring, but you must also take the time to do nothing. Take a day off to immerse in the hot springs of the exclusive hotels or one of the public thermal parks called Negombo or Poseidon.

Ischia’s beaches

The island has perfect golden sand that smoothly flows into the sea floor, with clear water glittering and shimmerig in the sun in all the colors of the rainbow. Enjoy the palm trees, stop for a moment to take in the aromas of flowers, of the sea and the fresh smell of pizza and fish from nearby pizzerias and restaurants. Here you can practice surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, diving, rowing and sailing. They say that in this sand medieval pirates preferred to bury the stolen treasures that have never been found!

The highest peak of the island has an extinct volcano called Epomeo, which is so peaceful and inviting. The most popular architectural feature — an ancient Aragonese castle on a rock, harmoniously blends into the surrounding landscape. This is one of the symbols of Ischia along with “mushroom” rock in Lacco Ameno.

Dolce Vita

The island is the home to the world renowned Film Festival which brings the greats of European cinema and fashion to visit every year celebrating la dolce vita. It’s not hard to run into someone famous as you stroll through the villages and streets.

Thermal Springs in Ischia

There are public and private Springs. There are family friendly resorts with entertainment for the kids and the public parks are equipped with pools for children. There is lots of room for run around and discover the different pools with different water temperatures and beautiful natural showers. There is not only relaxation but also lots of fun entertainment at the restaurants, bars, dance halls and the botanical gardens.

Among the most famous ones we have the Gardens of Poseidon, Terme Castiglione, Negombo and Eden. In winter, however, they do not work, but in this case there are spa centers at the hotels.
