You might already wonder who European Nomads are 🤔… We would like to meet with you and share our stories with you through this blog. But first thing first, let us introduce ourselves to you. 💁🏻‍♀️

Who are we?

We are Nasmina and Tutku. We are both Turkish by roots and met during our bachelor degree at Koç University. In 2021, we both moved to Europe to study abroad initially and moved to professional life as expats 👩🏻‍💻.

Nasmina -Let me go first! I live in Leiden, Netherlands 🇳🇱. I have studied psychology in university and came to Netherlands to do my masters in organisational psychology. As you can tell by my studies, I like to help people in their work life by creating more efficient, happy ways of working! I am currently working as HR Consultant in Amsterdam. So you surely will get some local advice from me about Netherlands. But that is not all, of course. One other passion that I have is to travel, discover new places and get as much local advice as possible! There are quite a lot of guides in the internet, but I will make sure that we add some local flavour to our blog that you won’t see everywhere. I really hope our travel tips inspire you in planning your own travels, and who knows, maybe some day, we travel together? Enough about me, back to Tutku! 😌

Tutku — I live in Leuven, Belgium. After finishing my degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration, I completed my master’s education in Data Science at KU Leuven. As you can tell, I am the nerd of this blog 👩🏻‍💻. As a Data Scientist, I like working with numbers. But I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. That’s the reason I wanted to start a blog with Nasmina. I have been traveling a lot recently and my friends have always enjoyed hearing my adventurous stories. This made me think, why not share them with others? Personally, I enjoy uncovering hidden gems in touristy cities, exploring lesser-known day-trip destinations, and seeking out unique pieces of art, particularly street art. You can expect short but very efficient trips from me, I am an Industrial Engineer who optimises everything 🙈. I will try to share more content from life in Leuven and Belgium 🇧🇪. I know it is hard to find good travel content about the cities in Belgium and it does not seem attractive. Yet, I will do my best to give the best local advice to you from places from Brussels, Ghent, and Antwerp 🤌🏼.

How did we start travelling?

Tutku’s first time abroad was through her student club trip to Madrid for a conference. Having always passion to travel, she started travelling abroad more and more thanks to her education. She has spent her summers in London, Madrid, and Romania for summer schools and volunteer projects. After moving to Belgium, she took the advantage of Schengen Residency as you can imagine. 😎

Nasmina on the other hand, started travelling quite early. Her family loved going abroad in summer holidays, so she went to many Europe cities growing up. So we can say that her passion for travel comes from the family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 ! Living in Europe, she is now planning her own trips to the new places that are still waiting to be discovered.

How did the idea of blogging come up?

As you can tell, we both have ‘’Wanderlust’’ as we like to say. After moving to Europe, we became lucky enough to discover many new places. So we both started travelling to different places, and sharing it with our friends. We both kept getting questions on how we plan our travels, best places to see, best food to eat etc. from our friends. Hence, we thought: ‘’Why not share it with a wider audience?’’ Therefore, the idea of starting a blog came up in a warm, summer evening 🌈☀️.

Why are we writing this blog?

If you stalked us just a little bit, you might have seen our motto already:

‘’May your wanderlust never fade…’’

That is exactly why we wanted to start the blog. We want to keep both our and your inner wanderlust alive! And how will we do that? We will share our travel tips, ideas, touristic attractions (%100 honesty guaranteed), local recommendations, problems that we came across, solutions that we found and so much more in our blog. We know that there is a huge European traveller community out there, so we are looking forward to help each other and grow together with them.

We hope you got a chance to get to know us a little bit in our first blog, we are sure that you will learn more about us along the way! Always feel free to DM us on instagram or email to europeanomads@gmail.com for any of your questions.

Mini disclaimer: We are both native turkish-speakers, so from time to time, we will also have turkish translations available for our readers in Turkey who is willing to travel Europe. If you are down for a little turkish practice, you can try reading those pieces ;)

Ee, sonra dedik ki, biz neden gezilerimizde ogrendiklerimizi yazip daha genis bir kitleye destek olmuyoruz? Blog fikri boyle dogdu.

Yazimizi cok sevdigimiz mottomuzdan bahsederek bitirelim: ‘’May your wanderlust never fade…’’. Maalesef wanderlust kelimesinin turkcede tam bir karsiligi yok ancak en yakin ceviri ‘’seyahat tutkusu’’ olabilir. Seyahat tutkunuzun hep canli kalmasi dilegimizle…
