Evan wasn’t one of the engineers who created the service. They were all gone by then. So every time something on the site would break, Ev would basically have to read through a few chapters of Coding for Dummies to figure out how to fix it.

I don’t want to weaken the story; the essence is true. But I have to defend my coder roots a little: I *did* initially code Blogger, actually (along with Paul Bausch). But it was in ASP on Windows Server 😬. It was later rewritten in Java (by Matt Hamer) and moved to Linux servers, neither of which I had any familiarity with. So I then had to maintain and build upon the service as I learned. So, yeah. Good times.
