Thoughts on ebooks

Ebooks are the future — we just haven’t quite figured it out yet.
This point is underestimated. Surprisingly, ebooks have not made reading books dramatically better. All they’ve done is made them faster to get and a bit cheaper. And lighter to carry around. Convenience is a big deal, but arguably a less-big deal for books than other forms of media, because they take a long time to read.
Oh, and highlights. I love highlighting when I read non-fiction. That’s the main reason I prefer Kindle over physical books. But it’s only scratching the surface.
Ebooks will really show their superiority when they stop being a bits version of their atom counterpart and start being something altogether new. This will happen when they start to truly tap the network.
