The Truth About What Happens When Your Dreams Start Coming True-You Get Downright Terrified
Things have started to get serious.
As I’m continuing along the blogging path I have been getting endless resources of people who want to help me.
Now normally you would think-that’s awesome! That’s exactly what you wanted Eva!
Yes this is true but with “success”, in the sense of the word that I’m making baby steps towards achieving my dreams, is coming an emotion I haven’t felt this strongly in a long time.
When someone tells me that they’re going to put me in contact with a huge marketing person in my city-‘my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy…’
It’s making me think to myself, am I ready? Am I ready to take the plunge and start to be a serious professional in my field and to start physically representing my brand to other brands?
As I finished my voicemail with this top exec, my first thought was okay-now I also need to respond to another marketer who wants to talk to me further about what I’m doing with my blog and social platforms, and I have another agency to reach out to that might be just under the top exec’s that I mentioned earlier.
I know that I can’t be the only person who has hoped and wished for opportunities like this and then coward in fear when they actually materialized.
So, I’ve come up with a game plan to calm my introverted nerves and give me the right mindset I need when I talk to all of these amazing people:
- I know that what’s meant to be is going to happen. This helps me realize that it’s not THAT big of a deal and all I can do is my best in each situation to prove my worth.
- I need to always take quick action. I can’t sit and ponder what I’m going to say to someone-I need to say it and do it as quickly as possible or else I know that I’ll overthink it and make myself more nervous than I already was.
- side note: I learned this technique from an interview I did with Medium head honcho Jon Westenberg. He told me about how quickly he makes decisions and it completely inspired me to do the same. Less talk, more action!
3. I’m not actually fearful-I’m just getting out of my comfort zone. HUGE. I know that I know how to talk to people and I know that I’m worth all of these people’s time. My actual feelings are those of just doing something different than I’ve ever done before. I’m not scared-I’m just not used to talking to big name people!
It’s incredible to watch something that you once thought was impossible become a real tangible thing with real time people that are helping you along the way.
I started writing for this reason. I want to show people that you can start TODAY on creating a job out of your passions and that there are people out there pulling it off.
Here’s to everyone on their journey, no matter how many steps they’ve taken.
We’re all pretty badass if you ask me and we’re creating an epic community of people who refuse to settle for anything short of amazing.
On that note, I’ll leave you with some inspiration:
