THANK YOU! I am so glad I’m not the only one who realizes this/feels this way about these episodes. Imo 15 Million Merits is the most trenchant social critique since Orwell’s 1984. I am reminded of it all the time by so many things I observe happening in society. It so powerfully examines the issues of manufactured consent, cultural commodification and alienation (in the Marxist sense). I think your analysis of why these episodes are so unpopular is absolutely spot on. It’s too real — it’s the dismal truth of our reality, and there’s no escape.
