Blockchain disrupting PHRs — 2nd Athens Digital Health (eHealth) Meetup-EN

For the last three years, something has changed in the digital health field in Greece. The eHealth Forum has become the annual meeting point for eHealth in Greece, promoting multi-level collaborative actions both in our country and abroad, among scientific, academic and business stakeholders of the public and private sector working on the digital and healthcare industry. Since 2014, eHealth Forum’s successful events shape Greece’s digital health programs, hosting leading speakers from Greece, Europe and the USA who share their international experience and practice in the field of digital health.

With this year’s conference coming up, (19–22 October 2017), the eHealth Forum has launched since last February, a series of Meetups to boost interaction and facilitate information exchange between relevant stakeholders, health care professionals, local authorities and the public. In the first successful Meetup organized at Athens Chamber of Commerce, the discussion was held around digital health applications in our daily life as well as Greece’s position in this dynamic market.

However, the discussion is far from over; consequently, the eHealth Forum is organizing a second Meetup, focusing on what can be described as the most important factor in digital health: big data and security. This second Meetup will be organized on Wednesday, the 19th of April in Athens. The discussion will start with a discussion about the blockchain technology for patients’ medical records going to the Greek ePrescription System.

The eHealth Forum aspires to become the epicenter of all eHealth stakeholders from Greece and the surrounding region connecting stakeholders, key leaders and policymakers from the West with those from the Balkans, South East Mediterranean, Israel and the Middle East.

To this aim, during this second meeting, the eHealth Forum will present the team forming the Greek delegation representing Greece at the largest EU digital health event, the eHealth Week. This year, eHealth Week is organized by the European Commission, the World Health Organization and HIMSS Europe, in Malta, on 10–12 May as part of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

This year, eHealth Week will focus on the overarching theme “Data for Health: The key to personalized sustainable care” and will particularly highlight the impact that data has on patients’ and citizens’ health. eHealth Week 2017 will gather stakeholders from across the globe to address international hot topics and current challenges the health ecosystem is facing. The conference and exhibition will provide a platform for high-level decision-makers in the field of healthcare and IT to share valuable knowledge and exchange solutions.
