What do you think of using automated flying cars or automated helicopters to try out autonomous vehicles?

If we do that as a start first, we have almost guaranteed success in every aspect (except physics maybe), then people will gradually wean off manual cars and we can put down autonomous cars in their place which will be more efficient, but will need less manual cars in order to not congest.
