Mr. Simpson, I did enjoy your analysis, but differ a bit in your conclusions. One consideration is that there is a movement by the States of Washington, Oregon and California to sucede from the Union and form a single Nation. This would drive home that fact that the majority of Trump supports are themselves supported by the tax dollars flowing from these states. This secession is still pie in the sky. You left a big elephant in the room, and that is the violence and belligerent nature of the Trump voter, who is also armed to the teeth. A left over from the racist fear these same individuals showed during the Obama Administration and used as an excuse to further arm themselves. I fear we may be facing the destruction of our nation as we know because of the extreme rhetoric and dysfunction of our political system, and in fact be a few steps away from armed civil unrest.
