The Garage Museum is the main contemporary and modern art museum in Moscow. It was founded by Roman Abramovich and Daria Zhukova in 2008.

The museum has 2 exhibition floors with an operating roof and a wide outdoor square within. It provides temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art with the attraction of international and local artists on a regular basis. Moreover, there are exhibitions for people with health conditions or impairments. Besides exhibition halls, the Garage Museum has a library, cafe, rooftop bar, book shop and indoor/ outdoor cinema hall. So, visitors can lose themselves in art.

The museum is located in the city centre within Gorky Park. The nearest metro station “Krasnopresnenskaya” is a 10 minute walk away. To get into the museum from the metro station you should walk through the bridge and the park. When you hear skateboards rolling, it will mean that you are close to the building.

The Garage Museum works from 11am to 10pm daily. The entrance fee depends on the membership status. For non-members the entrance fee will be around $5–10. As the exhibitions happen often, it’s better to buy annual membership for $40–50 to save some money. Additionally, you will get discounts in the museum’s cafe and library as well as you will have an opportunity to visit exhibitions for the day before the official opening. However, it should be noted that the museum has no exhibition at the moment due to the war.

To summarise, the Garage Museum is the most attractive place, if you want to get inspiration from modern and contemporary art in Moscow.
