A «How-To» Guide Is Not Enough
Unless It Includes One Powerful Component
6,610,000,000 results appear when you type the words «How to» in Google.
With this one in first place:
«wikiHow — How to do anything.»
Wow… “anything”. That’s a big statement, don’t you think?
Yes, it’s tempting to look for a «How-to» kind of answer.
It even makes sense:
“If I don’t know how-to do something… I ask how-to do it”, right?
No.
I mean, yes. You can ask.
But no, that alone won’t necessary solve the need you want the how-to guide for.
Especially when we’re talking about emotional or philosophical themes related to how-to-live your life; aligning to your True Self; stop feeling a victim; owning your power from the heart; making important decisions; raising your kids; having a fulfilling marriage/relationship; healing your body, etc.
That kind of relevant matters demands to go through an experience, along with the step-by-step theory.
To get to know a technique, doesn’t mean you know what needs to be done. Much less means you know the best strategy to get it done.
And don’t get me started on having the wisdom to know the difference between those two (technique & strategy), and then discern to be able to make a decision about whether to do something or not!
Nevertheless, the «How-to» guides market is humongous.

You see it in many different areas:
* Marketing
* Nutrition
* Fitness
* Healing
* Parenting
* Cooking
* Psychology
* Art
* Relationships
* Enlightenment
* etc.
You name it.
Please don’t get me wrong. A «How-to» guide can be a magnificent tool! And you’ll see how much I believe in that by the end of this post.
But if the case you want to take care of goes beyond a technical matter, and is related to an emotional or spiritual subject, it’s crucial that the How-to guide you are considering to follow extends beyond as well.
Make sure the guide has one powerful component:
An invitation to live an experience.
Any how-to guide to be effective should propel you towards having a direct experience you can learn from, instead of just telling you what you “should” do.
Remember no one knows you better than yourself.
And above all, be attentive not to overwrite your intuition thoughtlessly.
Ok, not only I’ve used how-to guides. But I’ve co-created them with Leo, (my best-friend/husband/partner-in-biz-and-adventures), for the «Expansion of Consciousness Online Coaching Programs» that we’ve been creating and delivering for the past 7 years.
And there’s no doubt we have also benefited from them too as consumers, when it has come to technical or marketing stuff.
By the way, we’re in the process of creating our next online coaching program, for our most exciting project ever: The Exc!tement Movement.Want to be notified when we have it ready? Click here.
Because believe it or not, there so much to learn and experience about living a life that spins around your true and highest exc!tement, that we’ve created a whole 8-week program around it. Definitively much more than a how-to guide ;-)
But I have to say that as passionate seekers and catalysts for enlightenment for more than 3 decades, we know that self-mastery, and awakening require much more than techniques and strategies.
It require profound direct experiences.

Self-realization and Self-actualization demand for us to live deep processes and go beyond the surface to explore and transcend themes that are particular to the overarching life themes each one of us —from higher levels of Consciousness— has chosen to live.
So basically, one how-to guide size doesn’t fit all.
But we live nowadays in a culture that worships speed and considers faster is better, therefore the idea of following cookie cutter approaches and step-by-step guides have gained adepts, many times leaving depth aside.
In two of my most important roles in life: as mother/stepmother of two magnificent teenagers, and as awakening-coach, I feel I serve the best when I empower my kids and my clients to find their answers… when I support them while they discover their paths… by guiding them to develop their connection with their Higher Guidance.
That majestic journey can’t be reduced to a how-to guide.
Self-mastery is what our human experience is all about.
Our relationships with people, society and circumstances (including beliefs, money and our body); our career, business or employment; our country; our dreams, fears, loves and every aspect of our experience are nothing but contexts to support us on our journey of self-mastery.
So next time you feel excited about downloading a «How-to» guide from the internet, be conscious about it and use your power.
Get it from an energy of awareness, determination and excitement for a new adventure, and not from fear of not knowing the answers by yourself.
Ask yourself: “What do I need to know at this moment in my life using this tool?”.
Then, take the info in and integrate it into your daily life.
One now moment at a time.
