A Paradise for Crafter — Online Handicraft Market

Do you love arts?

Have you ever made your little own handicraft? or Have you ever wanted to buy something special and unique?

Then here is a good news. Handicraft is flooding the marketplace! You can go to websites for such trade. But if you want to see the actual works , there are still chances in Hong Kong.

Lately, several markets have taken place in different districts of Hong Kong.

The most recent one was held in Olympian City as a Christmas Market. It lasted for 4 days and was free for entry. With the support of Olympian City, HKMO organised the event.

There were various stalls and workshops. What’s more appealing was the performance in the market.

After an event in November 2014, MHA (market for handmade art & craft) will open again in January 2015. The organiser, The Metal Health Association of Hong Kong, aims to provide an opportunity for the disabled to show their creativity and talents. By selling their goods, the confidence of the people can be enhanced.so, it’s really a meaningful event.

There is a market for the people with disability. How about the youngsters?

The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong and Arts & Handicraftsman Association of Hong Kong have co-organised a market for youth.

It takes place once two months. The market is held for teenagers to develop their talents and accumulate experience.

In order to be more attractive, the market has different themes and activities each time. Like other markets, Youth Creative Market also offer workshops and performance for citizen to join and enjoy the entertainment from art.

In such freezing days, many people (including me, haha) surely prefer staying at home to hanging out. When feeling sleepy, dizzy and dull, something fresh and amazing will be a pill! Lots of foreign platforms contain countless handmade goods with novelty.

Are you eager to go for a visit? Here they are!

  • Artfire

http://www.artfire.com

It is an online marketplace whose focus is only on handmade products. The extension search options such as fine art ,vintage and group by shop is greatly appreciated.

In the site , there are sales and deals like free shipping, buy one get one free, coupons and so on. Therefore, visitors can easily browse and find out what is on sales.

A really thoughtful idea in Artfire is that buyers can post a ‘wanted’ ad for a custom-made craft. So, they won’t spend lots of time surfing on websites in search of an ideal product.

Another appealing part of the website is its community. People joining the website membership is not only for buy and sale, but also for interaction with others. In the website, artists can communicate with other sellers or buyers ,and, thereby get new ideas. Through interacting, they may form a community and can discuss related skills. So their artworks maybe more decent. Such community is surely beneficial towards both buyers and sellers.

  • Made it Myself

http://www.madeitmyself.com

Made it Myself is a marketplace similar to Artfire or Esty as its members can trade their handicraft there. In this platform, buyers can negotiate the price of a product. Sounds attractive?

Made It Myself is not only for skilled crafters, it also welcomes amateurs to sell their goods. Therefore, the website is widely used.

  • Shop Handmade

Many alternatives like Bonanza requires sellers to pay monthly or weekly. However, what if people don’t want to pay fees? Then Shop Handmade is a wonderful choice for those to sell their handmade goods.

A special feature of this platform is that people can get their own sub domain to set up an official feeling store. That’s one of the reasons explaining the rise of the marketplace.

P.S. I’m doing this just because I like hanging around these sites and absolutely have no benefit from it.
