I actually don’t think Facebook should be policing them, for the same reasons you describe in Macedonia: centralized control will amplify feelings of cynicism. Also, asking huge moneyed interests to enforce some kind of officially determined truth is extremely dangerous. I’m worried they will actually go after the First Amendment soon: the GOP and rightwing media have spent years attacking higher education and protest: two of the more effective and accessible democratic institutions. Those attacks have been really effective.

It is terrifying to see this happening so fast.
