Out of thousands of demonstrations, there will always be people who cannot handle their role as a protestor. As someone who has been to many events over the years, for a variety of issues, this is something that you’re right to comment on. I have personally been threatened by activists in the past and it’s not a productive way to make change. And I tried to write a response about that very problem in my piece about the Trump rally in San Jose. No one deserves to be assaulted or threatened for having an opinion.

The trouble comes when the acts of a few are used as a rationale to punish the many. And that’s exactly the thinking that drove a man to hunt police officers in a city far from where other officers had taken black lives.
