This is such a bizarre sentence.

People have had safety nets far longer than they have had phones.

And I feel like such a fool for staying in college. Obviously the true path for affluent white children to pursue success is to launch yourself into a foreign country to prove how easy it is to succeed when you are a white kid from a western nation who can literally call home for rescue whenever she wants.

This feels like a small step removed from the horror of the unpaid internship.
