Yes. The process matters at least as much as the result. I don’t favor the death penalty, but I favor even less a system that relies on good hearted bureaucrats to rescue people from problems in the system. It’s not enough to airlift a few high profile cases out while the structure collapses. That’s the same problem I have with vouchers and charter schools, and it feels significant to me that Kaine’s kids went to public school.
