Eminem Comes Out Swinging With ‘Kamikaze’

Eminem’s surprise release Kamikaze can be summed up with one line, mimicking the same power and tone of Kendrick Lamar’s showstopping one-liner: “My left stroke just went viral!” Aside from its cleverness, the line, taken from Kamikaze’s second track “Greatest,” shows Eminem mocking himself and his critics for Revival’s (2017) inability to see success, while also taking a jab at artists and songs that have. Sure, it does seem a tad bit immature to blame critics, younger rappers, and the President for why your comeback album didn’t do so hot — but would it really be Eminem otherwise? Indeed, in true Eminem fashion, the 45-year-old dedicates an entire album to tearing apart his critics and the artists he blames for making rap music what it is today: an environment he doesn’t fit into anymore.
After giving Kamikaze a listen or five, we can confidently conclude one thing… mainstream rap music has changed, and Eminem doesn’t like it.
