Blockchain for Open Sensors Network Initiative announced at COP25
Participating NGOs will receive free smart sensors connected to blockchain network to form a global public database of trusted CO2 and pollution data.
“Digital technologies should serve those who need them most. This is why we are happy to announce our new initiative aimed to educate climate action NGOs on the use of digital tech for immutable and transparent CO2 and pollution measurement”. — said Anita Mujumdar, а 24-year old Russian-Indian climate technology leader.
On December 5 at the official side event by UNFCCC “How digital technologies can support climate action” a new educational initiative for climate NGOs was announced — “Public blockchain for open sensors networks”.
Within the project Evercity and Robonomics network will provide a blockchain framework to all organizations who want to use smart meters to measure air, water and soil pollution and publish this data on blockchain. First participating NGOs will get free smart sensors, while all other organizations will receive free technical support to connect their own sensors to the network. The framework with be built with Parity substrate technology and based on DAO IPCI open source public blockchain protocol that made the first ever blockchain-based carbon credit transaction.
About the UNFCCC side event:
The side event was organized jointly by UNFCCC secretariat and Climate Chain Coalition . Moderated by the Manager of Regulatory Development Unit of UNFCCC Massamba Thioye, the panel included speakers from such industry leaders as Tom Baumann head of the Climate Chain Coalition, representatives of UN Global Pulse, Climate-KIC, Consensys, Ericsson, C40, Korea-PNG Climate Smart City Cooperation Program and Qlik.org.
About Evercity (https://evercity.io/):
Evercity Platform is a blockchain-based platform for impact measurement, management and investment, including issuance of digital impact financial instruments. A combination of a blockchain and smart contracts with the integration of AI and networks of smart sensors, drones, and satellite data enables to solve the main challenges of impact investment market — сostly & inefficient portfolio management, inaccurate impact measurement, mistrust between projects and investors, profitability and liquidity concerns.
About DAO IPCI (https://ipci.io/):
DAO IPCI, one of the founding members of Climate Chain Coalition, is an open-source blockchain protocol designed for carbon market instruments, including carbon compliance units, carbon-offset credits, other environmental mitigations credits, environmental assets, rights and liabilities registration, accounting and transaction data, which as of the date of this MOU is represented at https://ipci.io/ with its repo at https://github.com/DAO-IPCI/DAO-IPCI
About Robonomics platform (https://robonomics.network/):
Robonomics is web3 framework for smart cities and industry 4.0 app developers. Launched in 2015, the project provides technologies like IPFS, Ethereum and Substrate for robotics engineers who create ROS-enabled cyber-physical systems.
