Time to Move On

Mike, we probably agree in general about the obsolescence of nation-states and the need for city-states (“metropoles”) if any reasonable level of science, engineering, and technology is to be preserved. I tend to think less in terms of “governments” at nonlocal scales and more in terms of “governance systems” with functional disaggregation.

The brief discussion of Apple’s introduction of the mouse (5:40–6:40 in your June 2015 discussion with Jim Shon) reminded me of the time I showed a movie to a one-semester course I was teaching in the 1970 spring semester. The movie included the first public demonstration of a mouse. One student in that course in the 1969 fall semester became a good friend. He is now retired from being the CIO of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.
