Fuck Your Alton Sterling Slander

If you’re justifying the murder of Alton Sterling by saying he was a sex offender then you’re a bigoted piece of garbage. Any justification is disgusting but this one in particular angers me more than the cliches we’ve all become accustomed to hearing.

Yes, Alton Sterling was a registered sex offender. In 2000, at age 21, he was convicted of “Carnal knowledge of a juvenile”, which consists of the following (emphases mine):

A. Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when:
(1) A person who is seventeen years of age or older has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is thirteen years of age or older but less than seventeen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender and when the difference between the age of the victim and the age of the offender is four years or greater.
B. As used in this Section, “sexual intercourse” means anal, oral, or vaginal sexual intercourse.
C. Lack of knowledge of the juvenile’s age shall not be a defense. Emission is not necessary, and penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the crime.

If you want to verify this information, you can look at his record in the offender database here and you can read Louisiana Statute 14:80 here.

So, Alton Sterling had consensual sex with a girl between the ages of 13–16 (specific details of the case are not publicly available at this time) when he was either 20 or 21.

He turned 21 on 6/14/2000 and his conviction date is 9/20/2000 so it’s possible that he was still 20 at the time the ‘crime’ occurred, depending on how quickly court dates were scheduled and depending on how long the court proceedings lasted.

There are potential scenarios that fit within that description that I don’t consider noble behavior per se, especially if the girl was closer to the 13-year-old end of the range but:
1) It’s a far cry from the Sandusky-type pedophilia claims being made by bigots.

2) It’s completely irrelevant to the fact that he was brutally and unjustly murdered more than a decade after that ‘crime’ occurred.

It’s just so disheartening to see so many people want to justify his murder. To want to believe that he somehow deserved this and to want to believe that the world is a better place because he’s now dead.

Know what you’re talking about before slandering a man who was just executed. Do two fucking seconds of research. Open your goddamn eyes and don’t be a fucking bigot.
