EVERYTHING CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers revealed earlier this morning that they’re bringing back the popular black, orange, ocean-blue retro jersey’s worn in the mid-90s. The Cavs first wore them during their opening season in the Gund Arena, 25-years ago, during the ‘94-’95 season where Mark Price, Shawn Kemp, John “Hot-Rod” Williams and Terrell Brandon headlined the roster.
Cleveland collaborated with Nike to re-create these “Classic-Edition” uniforms for their 50th-anniversary, the ‘19–’20 NBA season. The Cavs will debut these throwback jerseys during their home opener on Oct. 26th in the newly renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Plus an additional 7 games:
- Saturday, Nov. 23 vs. Portland Trail Blazers 8:00 PM
- Monday, Nov. 25 vs. Brooklyn Nets 7:00 PM
- Wednesday, Dec. 11 vs. Houston Rockets 7:00 PM
- Friday, Dec. 20 vs. Memphis Grizzlies 7:00 PM
- Tuesday, Jan. 28 vs. New Orleans Pelicans 7:30 PM
- Saturday, February 29 vs. Indiana Pacers 8:00 PM
- Saturday, April 11 vs. Milwaukee Bucks 7:30 PM
The Cavaliers also announced 2 new home-court designs this morning they will be using this season along with their retro “Classic-Edition” jerseys.
The first design is in honor of the Gund Arena from in ‘94-’95. The court features a black border on the south-side of the court, with a light blue painted on the north-side edge of the court and the Cavs retro-swoosh logo at mid-court.
The second court pays homage to the classic 70s team colors of Wine and Gold — which was reintroduced in ‘10–’11 — for the Cavaliers 50th-year anniversary and a giant “50” at mid-court.
Back by popular demand, you can purchase apparel in this retro collection in the Cavs team shop starting in October.
