7 Things to Do in Hammersmith

As a random Westminster inhabitant who is keen on travelling and exploring new destinations, the visit of the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is mandatory. Imagine you have only a day or two, like I had. How will you decide which attraction you’ll visit? Luckily, I have a good friend living in there who guided me during my vacation. Here is a list of the most entertaining activities we enjoyed.

  1. Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Of course we love it, we are girls! King Street in Hammersmith has really great shops containing lots of treasures. In the supermarket Damas Gate you can find a large collection of fruits and vegetables. If you prefer the big shops, then Westfield is your place.

2. Pubs

We are not really keen on drinking in pubs since we’ve done it too much in the past. Still, one does not simply come to London without getting drunk in a local club. In Hammersmith, The Dove and The Blue Anchor are the places where you can drink a beer or two with friends. In case you prefer quiet places and you do not like big crowds, then Crabtree is your place. It has a wonderful terrace, comfortable sofas and a big and unique selection of drinks and spirits.

3. Best Tourist Attractions

Walks around the riverside of The Thames are absolutely obligatory. My favourite is through Bishop’s Park.

4. While We Are Talking About Walks

You shouldn’t miss the Ravenscourt Park with its lovely garden and Bishop’s Park for its amazing views. The latter is appropriate for picnic in case the weather is nice.

5. Remarkable Architectural Buildings

You can visit Fulham Palace and its gardens five times a week for free.

Reach the heart of BBC Television Centre by purchasing tickets for show recordings and enjoy the “electric donut”.

6. Forget About the Diets

It is definitely not the most appropriate time for food limitations. Exhaustion has never been a good tourist companion. If you are a vegetarian, visit The Gate in Hammersmith. If glamour is your passion, turn to the famous River Café in Fulham. Rumour has it Uxbridge Road offers the most delicious falafel in London.

7. Visit This Statue

That’s right, Jacko has a statue outside Craven Cottage which is, let’s say, controversial.

8. Home Repair?

So, you’ve just booked a local Hammersmith handyman or builder and wonder what to do? Well, this is the perfect time for long walks. Now you finally can go out with the friend who called you last week.
