On the 21st of October, I became a year closer to the 40y.o. mark. Not yet there but it kind of struck me:) My second half took me on a surprise trip to Frankfurt for a few days (a so-called digital detox time meant for reflection and metacognition, and all the other great things in life besides Women in AI (WAI) and Artificial Intelligence :). The trip was packed with everything I am passionate about — great food, history, innovation, music, and art. See my photos and the links that could be useful for you once you are in Frankfurt.

My top 3 words that can be used to describe the outcomes of looking back on the past years and the possible advice given to the future generation would be — Learn. Do. Love.

(Plus 2 extra — eat healthy and do sports — from the healthy epicurean in me:)

#Learn.

Never stop learning! The world is changing too fast. We as human beings are not able to know all and keep track of vastly developing new things but if you find your interest and keep on advancing your expertise, you’ll keep on shining bright. (I did miss my Python class at Lovelace Machine Learning Bootcamp — sorry! — but I installed Enki App and was learning Python on the train ;)

#Do.

Try new things, challenge the status quo! Whether it is new ideas or concepts, find your energy to try them out. Life is a playground. Live Life! Don’t stop exploring, DO try. (In Frankfurt I went by a “Bird” scooter, traveled in a self-driving bus, and went on a walking tour with locals around the city).

“Birding” around Frankfurt

#Love.

By learning and trying/doing, find your passion! Our time on planet Earth is limited, don’t miss the beauty by only sitting in your office chair from 9 till 5. Be as a Phoenix (PHX?;), find the purpose, grow your wings, and go above and beyond. (I visited the Städel museum to see the magnificent paintings of old and modern artists. I went to Orange Peel for live music on stage — Blues performed by the Rootsduo from Chicago — Joe Filisko and Eric Noden. And I tried great food! I highly recommend going for breakfast/brunch to Harvey’s, for lunch to a street market by the Central station or Apfelwein-Wagner, and for a dinner to Kabuki or Quattro Ristorante Italiano).

Entrance to the restaurant Kabuki ( € € € €) // A fragment of the “Portrait of Pope Julius II” by Raphael (1511–12) // Tabletop at Apfelwein Wagner
At Harvey’s for brunch (€ — €€) — cozy and delicious!
The street food market by the Central station (€) // “Adam and Eve” by Franz von Stuck (ca. 1920)
A fragment of the painting “Head of a Blonde-Haired Girl” by August Babberger (1925) // Menu at Harvey’s // Live cooking at Kabuki ( € € € €)
Bratwurst stall at the street market by the Central station (€) // A german food stall in the city center (€)// Live music at Orange Peel (€)
History, art, architecture, music, food, and the vibe on the streets of Frankfurt

Since Wednesday, I am back to my Women in AI Ambassador agenda. I had calls and meetings regarding the expansion of our global do-tank to some new untapped markets. I caught up on my emails. I recommended women speakers to some big upcoming events (yay!). I read my AI news and made a draft concept for the new WAI event… and I danced, I danced in between while reading your messages.

Thank you all for the avalanche of birthday wishes that I’ve received! Your warmth and compassion are very important to me. You are the source of my energy in this journey of making the world non-biased, inclusive and equal. I cherish every contact established, every moment shared. Thank you for being so am-AI-zing!

P.S. To answer the most common question received during the past days, I made a wish to see more women in Data & AI and a great number of female founders launching their startups across the globe. And it is OK to say it out loud as it’s all coming true!

br-AI-vely yours,

Eve
