Task Analysis Mapping
Task Analysis:
- The purpose is to determine the user’s goal
- Brain storm how to achieve the goal
- What needs to be done to reach goal
- Environmental factors to consider that affects the goal
- Perform the task
The Scenario: You live in an apartment with roommates and having to deal with one problem — really old and ugly walls. What steps and efforts must be done in order to reach the goal. The aim is to be productive and keep costs to a minimum.
1: Identify the task
- Identify the problem → really old and ugly wall that needs new paint
2: Get Ideas and Inspiration
- Brainstorm ideas and search the web for visual and ideas on color choices (complementary, triad, monochromatic, etc) to match other walls and furniture.
3: Ask for help
- Ask roommates for their idea and approval to help lower cost of supply
4: Review contract
- Read over rental agreement and contract to confirm terms and condition in rental lease.
5: Call landlord:
- Call landlord and ask for permission and discount or reduce rent to cover cost of labor and supply. Make sure to establish a written agreement if possible to ensure less conflicts in the future.
6: Collect funds:
- Collect cash from roommate and save receipt on supply purchases for the landlord..
7: Work effectively
- Gather friends and roommates to give a helping hand on the project.
8: Task completed
- Clean up the area and enjoy the new wall.
