St. Albans Cathedral church was began in the year 1077 and was completed during the year 1089. Roman bricks from the abandoned city of Verulamium has been used in the construction where outstanding 13th and 14th century wall paintings can been seen on the longest nave i.e ( 85 meters long) in the England. At present , Bell tower which was constructed in 11th century is the only remain of its period.

It was constructed during Normal Era england period and often referred St.Alban Cathedral church locally as “Abbey”and ceased to be same following its dissolution in the 16th century and became a cathedral in 1877. Architecture design was of Romanesque 11th century and also includes 19th century Gothic structure. But the actual style of the St.Albans Cathedral is unknown.

St.Albans Cathedral church was constructed exactly over the place where Saint Alban was buried which was dedicated to him by the King Offa in 793 who founded it over 1200 years ago as a Benedictine monastery.Main attraction inside this church is Shrine Alban which was rebuilt in 14th century and remained as rare survival for todays generation as it was destroyed after 14th century and rediscovered and rebuilt during 19th century and again restored in the year 1993.

Over the centuries , St Albans Cathedral has undergone several transformations which is famous for its extensive medieval collections surviving today from last 1700 years.Vistors come here to honour the saints sacrifice and to offer prayers at the shrine.This places is considered as the oldest site of continuous christian worship in Britain which is also a parish church with large and active congregation.

It is located in Hertfordshire of St Albans city district, United Kingdom which comes under Church of England and was originally founded as Verlamion a settlement belonging to a Celtic tribe called Catuvellauni.
