Great, great post. Here is what my personal experience has been. I read the journalistic (read: true) accounts of Uber management (read: Travis) threatening to ruin a female journalists’ career because she dared to not only write something negative about Uber, but imply that the company had a sexist culture.

For that and other reasons I have personally boycotted the service, even thought about singing up for Lyft just to make it a real boycott. I have expressed my opinions to my family members. Recently, my father, whom I love but who’s political and other believes are 180 degrees opposite of mine “app shamed me” into installing Uber on my phone, just to see if they had service in Tulsa, where I live. Eww. Could not WAIT to delete, which I did. Now, this continued bad press, regardless of how little it will impact the company’s success, at least provides me and other Uber-haters with cold comfort.

By the way, have you read what the marvelous Anand Sanwal of CB Insights has been writing about Uber’s “Ponzi Schemeof Ambition”? It is priceless — pisses off half of his readers who are pinhead VCs, and I love that he continues in spite of that.
