Fantastic article. You describe this culture as only someone who experienced it can. Honestly, this is probably one of the better resources on 4Chan not found on 4Chan itself.

I wish you could have gone into the media’s misinterpretation of 4Chan a little more, I believe that’s one of it’s primary reasons for attracting so many members. Everyone wants to be part of the “in” crowd that “normies” don’t understand — especially the demographic that you focused on in this piece.

Have you spent any time on Reddit? I would love to read a take on that culture as well. I believe that the “core values” of both websites are very closely tied to how the site functions in a user-interface sense, but I haven’t found any article detailing that idea.

Thanks again, this really clarified a lot of my thoughts on why Trump was so attractive to the user-base.
