Here in the UK, farmland is scarce and land is expensive (investors use it as an investment), so would-be farmers struggle to get a look-in. There are many grassroot initiatives to remedy this. One is the Biodynamic Land Trust which secures land in trust to be biodynamic and organic for generations to come. The financial mechanism is ethical loans to kickstart the process then community shares that the public (wherever they are in the world) can buy. The farmer then leases the secured community-owned farm from the Biodynamic Land Trust. (I now work part-time for this small but great charity!).
