According to the facts you presented it would be an equally true statement if I just said, “White men built the White House.” Or, “Irish men built the White House.” And so on, singling out any one group of men who were involved. Obama’s statement gives the clear impression that slaves alone built it, and I think that’s where people object. But that’s a typical leftist thing to do — leave out facts that present a clear and honest picture. Just like your quote of O’Reilly which perpetuates the cause of the backlash over his statement to begin with. You and others make it sound like he was minimizing the evil of slavery, which he wasn’t. He was just giving a full picture of the construction. Context is everything. But you know that, I’m sure, and don’t care.
