“Kaise akaash mei suraakh nahi ho sakta,
Ek paththar toh tabiyat se uchaalo yaaron”
While talking about Hindi poetry how can we forget Dushyant Kumar? Dushyant Kumar was the famous Hindi poet of the 20th century. He is basically recognized for writing Hindi Ghazals and poems. Dushyant Kumar was born on 1st September. He started his literary career at Allahabad. He was the writer of many dramas, poems, Ghazals and short stories. He participated actively in seminars at Parimal Academy of Literature. He also worked in an important Indian Newsletter of that time ‘Naye patte’, Akashwani and Rajyasabha Section in Madhya Pradesh: the theme of his writing was basically focused on corruption. His poetry turned out to be an inspiration for the new generation poets. Dushyant Kumar died in Bhopal at the age of 42 due to cardiac arrest.
A few lines of Dushyant Kumar’s poem were used in the popular movie of 2017 Irada. The Lines were from the poem “Ho Gayi hai Peer Parvat Si”. Lines of Dushyant Kumar’s Ghazal “Saye mei dhoop” are often used in programmes. Later a few lines of his poems were used in the movie Halla Bol. The lines were –
“Mere seene mei nahi toh tere seene mei sahi
Ho kahin bhi aag lekin aag jalni chahiye”
Star plus used a few lines in the promos of its show ‘Satyameva Jaytae’. The lines were –
“Sirf hungama khada karna mera maksad nahi
Saari koshish hai ki yeh soorat badalni chahiye”
In September 2009, the stamp with Dushyant Kumar’s image was issued by the Indian Department of posts to honor him. Later a museum was established in C.T.T Nagar, Bhopal Madhya Pradesh dedicated to Dushyant Kumar. Later in the Movie Masaan, a line from his poem was taken and used in a song. The lines were “Tu kisi rail si guzarti hai”. An episode dedicated to Dushyant Kumar in the program Mahakavi aired on 12th and 13th November 2016 on ABP News. It was made by the ABP News Channel and the Hindi poet Kumar Vishwas. Let’s honor the legendary Hindi poet on his birthday.
“Woh aadmi nahi hai, mukammal bayaan hai
Maathe par uske chhot ke gehre nishaan hai”
