So You Think You Can Be The President?
Musings by an exhausted voter. How much more can we take? Is this it? Maybe there’s more. The kids are not alright.
Biden has ended his bid for reelection and nominated Harris. According to CNN, “Trump holds 49% support among registered voters nationwide to Harris’ 46%, a finding within the poll’s margin of sampling error. That’s a closer contest than earlier CNN polling this year had found on the matchup between Biden and Trump.” This shift likely reflects the public’s support for Biden’s decision to step aside and finish his presidency.
In a recent article by the Intelligencer, Kamala Harris’s biographer shed light on her remarkable political journey, stating:
“She’s certainly a skilled politician, and she’s ambitious. But then, what politician isn’t ambitious? To me, one thing that is true about Kamala Harris is that she’s underestimated. She came out of pretty much nowhere to become district attorney. She had built a bit of a profile in San Francisco, but when she ran for D.A., she had very little name ID. And she was running against an incumbent who had quite a name in San Francisco. The Hallinan family was and is quite famous there. Nobody knew who Kamala Harris was.”
Despite facing significant odds and limited recognition, Harris managed to carve a path to success, exemplifying her resilience and political acumen.
Even after Republicans nationwide won legislative seats, they raised $30 million and spent $1 million in an attempt to block Harris from winning.
Too bad for them.
Rep. Glen Grothman (R-Wis) asserts that Harris’s nomination is largely due to her ethnicity. “A lot of Democrats feel they have to stick with her because of her ethnic background,” Grothman said in an interview with Milwaukee’s CBS-58 on Sunday.
This perspective isn’t shocking, considering Trump supporters had begun their attacks on Harris even before Biden dropped out due the democratic administration’s border policy. Grothman added that Harris isn’t liked by all Democrats, particularly criticizing her speaking skills. “I know there are some Democrats who don’t like her,” he said. “And she has the obvious weaknesses, the border, as well as she hasn’t been the most articulate candidate so far.”
Maybe he hasn’t heard Trump speak.
Welp, here we go. On to making history. Is this how the generations before us felt? We may need one of FDR’s Fireside Chats.
Make Politicians Care Again.
