Couple of weeks ago I came across this post A Proven Framework for Exporting Your Medium Followers nicely written by Laszlo Levente Mári (an active friend from a common ProductHunt Slack group and commonly known as @noxowe).
After reading the article and self-realizing the current pain points (if one wants to export their followers data)— I had a quick chat with Laszlo Levente Mári about further refining it with chrome extension.
Well, I had totally forgotten about its development but then after few days one of my friend (who is into content marketing) bumped to me with the same requirement.
To this my very first reaction was “Why Do You Even Need To Do It?”
and then he simply replied:
“For better targeting of his articles.”
Well, then without wasting much time I quickly decided to build an Chrome Extension and named it Follox with features:
Follox stores 4 things to CSV file:
Name, MediumURL, ProfileImage, Description
**Steps to Run:**
1. Open Medium User Profile Page of any User.
like: https://medium.com/@exexzian
2. Hit the Follox Icon
3. Wait for the Process Completion and Tadaaa... - Save the CSV file
(For Convenience Follox offers the file name as:
"MediumUerName - MediumFollower.csv")
And while developing Follox, I got the know the hassle it holds and number of manual clicks on “Show More” followers it would have taken — if number of followers are in hundreds — as “Medium Followers Page Listing” fetches the followers list in batches.
Well I won’t be going into code part in this article — but will proudly confess ‘coz of this extension I finally got to play with MutationObserver.
And have recently posted it on ProductHunt and will love some feedbacks :)
