The novelist Raymond Chandler, famous for his literary crime fiction, once discussed the techniques he used to craft his hard-boiled fiction. He offered the following advice:
“If your plot is flagging, have a man come in with a gun… When stumped, have a man come through a door with a gun.”
With that said, it is easy to procrastinate with writing. It is even easier to pretend you are waiting for the right idea or a moment of inspiration to get started. But there is no right idea. There is no perfect first blog post. Rather, one has to just walk through the literary door with a gun, quit talking and begin shooting.
