The writer does not even know enough to mention third party due diligence services like ICOrating.com and Smith and Crown. Nor about how due diligence is crowdsourced at Bitcointalk. And the fact that most investors are savvy for two reasons — most of the wealth being invested in ICOs is new wealth coming from those benefiting from the rise in value of BTC and ETH. Secondly, it’s not easy to invest in ICOs — you have to work with myetherwallet, exchanges, etc. It’s not grannies buying shitty old cars here — most investors are sophisticated.

You can’t really write about the cryptoculture unless you are embedded in it and clearly the writer is not.
