Paradise beach, one of the only reasons I could get through school on a Friday. We were able to sleep in to about 9:30, which felt so nice to do. The shuttle for the beach left at 10:30 and my friends and I were the first on! I absolutely love the beach, all the fun activities like volleyball, diving, snorkelling, tanning or even grabbing a bite to eat! With the freedom that we had when we got there, no hesitation that we did it all! The facility was beautiful, the decorations and the scenery made the place look very visually appealing. The music they played was very pumped up and created a happy vibe that circled throughout the whole beach! The beach even had trampolines and splash pad games! There were so many types of games to play, our day was endless fun. After a while, our stomachs finally spoke up and we decided to take a food break. I ordered the chicken and cheese quesadilla with a side of guacamole. The food was so mouth watering that I almost ordered another! So in other words, it was a well spent day at the beach.

It is funny how the cab drivers can tell you are a tourist from Canada simply by the way we talk and constantly apologize. “You ladies from the true north?” The cab driver screams out to try to talk over our obnoxiously loud music. We all laugh with excitement that we were identified just by doing a few things. We all responded with joy in our voices and we talked the whole ride back to the hotel about the cold winters and how we ride polar bears to school. He seemed like a good cab driver and an even better guy, until he ripped us off and charged us $4 each in USD, together that was a total of $16! We were shocked and frustrated with the way the cab driver tried to scam the group into thinking the prices were accurate. We finally got him to lower the price back down to $2 a person, thank god!

Once the hunger really started to kick in at around 2 pm, that snacking time between lunch and dinner. So just like every day, we went on an Oxxo run. The Oxxo is basically like the 711, but with more foreign foods. Reasons why the place is so nice is the prices and also the food is really good. The food is what you would find back in Canada, all the typical candy, chocolate and chips that satisfy your sweet tooth. With only $3 in your back pocket, you can get a lot with your money! My usual shop consists of Gatorade (preferably the blue one), cookies and cream chocolate bar, Pringles and a full row of packaged cookies! The food usually lasts me 2 days depending on how hungry I get. So, I would have to say the majority of my money typically goes to the Oxxo!

Now, it’s time I tell you a little bit more about the cheesecake at the hotel. I know its weird, to think cheesecake could taste good at a Mexican buffet. But that cheesecake is almost 100% the reason I even go to dinner. It is the way the delicious moist cake slides from the plate onto your fork and makes your mouth water. The most amazing whipped cream that is smeared on perfectly that adds just a bit more texture and flavour that creates the most perfect combination of both sweet and salty. If I could, I would buy 10 of those cakes and have them shipped back to Toronto, no question about it.

The nightlife in Mexico is one of the most entertaining events I attended on this trip. The music that plays all throughout the streets, the amazing salsa dancing that everyone knows how to do! Don’t forget the beautiful lights that bring even more life to the main street of Mexico. That night we decided to check out a new scene, the karaoke place! I loved it there, you got to go up and sing to your favourite songs with your favourite people! The DJ loved our group because we made the bar more alive, we made a killer play list that everyone sang to and it made such a good memory! I will always remember the time we went to a karaoke bar in Mexico.
