Thank you for your efforts, this is fascinating. Knowing how the character of “Robert Capa” was originally created, very little of this should come as a surprise; he knew that people tend to love a good story more than a true story.
I couldn’t agree more! I spend much of my research time trying to restore the context to images (I was trained as an art historian).
