Eyeball Games raises pre-seed funding to scale Eyeball Pool.

Singapore, 20 July 2023: Eyeball Games (www.eyeball.games), a Singapore-based game studio, is proud to announce it has closed a US $1.5 million pre-seed funding round from a collection of world-class VCs from the gaming and Web3 space.
Our round is led by White Star Capital, a prolific gaming investor which raised its newest $120 million fund earlier this year from investors that include gaming giant Ubisoft. Other participants include Polygon Ventures, the investor arm of the popular layer-2 blockchain company Polygon, Immutable, the gaming-focused layer-2 blockchain company, and Singapore-based venture capital funds Ocular and Great South Gate Ventures.

A new take on pool games
We came together when I (Jonathan Ivarsson — Eyeball Games CEO) met with my co-founders Karsten and Thomas, who are the original creators of 8 Ball Pool. Today, their creation is the world’s most popular pool game for mobile devices with over one billion downloads — our shared vision is to develop a modernized pool game that takes the experience to a new level.
We believe that adding web3 elements, including full ownership of assets, can fundamentally change the way our players interact with pool games.
Yes, we have developed what we believe to be a major graphical upgrade — thanks to our sophisticated game engine — but we’ve even more excited about engagement. You, the players, will fully own your digital assets in the game. That means (only) you can sell cues and other items that you skillfully earned to others, or accelerate your own progress by buying such items.
Players spend hours per week playing pool games. That level of dedication has spawned communities that include knowledge transfer, skill, influencers, and friendships. We want to develop an in-game ecosystem that befits these vibrant communities and we are delighted to have world-class investors to help us get there.
Full Eyeball Pool launch in early 2024
We’re obsessed with developing a world-class gaming experience and, to do so, Eyeball Pool will be released in phases. That starts with a web-based title that’s exclusively available for holders of Eyeball Pool early-access pass NFTs — called Balldroids. We are planning a full launch on mobile for all gamers in Q1 2024 — after which the NFTs will convert into exciting game starter packs with exclusive and unique items.
We’re proud to be among the first featured games that will launch on Immutable’s zkEVM chain (powered by Polygon), which is a first of its kind collaboration between industry leaders to build a platform specifically for games.
