Standing to my left is Brenda, a patient who has struggled to see clearly for many years due to corneal transplant surgery. Last month Brenda visited our specialty practice for the first time. Brenda’s vision was so poor that she depended on a friend to drive her to my office. Last month we fit Brenda with GVR Scleral lenses which are allowing her to see clearly and comfortably for the first time in many years. Today, Brenda returned to our office for a follow-up progress visit having driven to our office herself. Brenda has been doing extremely well as you can tell by her smile. I expect Brenda to have many more years of clear, comfortable vision with her scleral lenses. In this photo on the left is our student extern Julie Kim and on the right our other student extern Samy Bensbaa. Helping patients like Brenda to see clearly after years of extremely poor vision is what makes it a joy to do what I do.
