Totes liking this post! My kids are dancers/gymnasts/performers/actors/singers… (they are 9 and 11!) and though they have grown up around the tech… and can create amazing stuff in minecraft (and especially in disney infinity) have never taken to exploring the code — even when gamified.
Diversity is all — but all this shows is the fundamental flaw within most curriculum design: where ‘progress’, after exposure, assumes interest.
My kids have discovered passions and talents — which are not contained within digital spaces- but in moving their bodies in space — and in social interaction.
As my daughter often says… “You can take a child to school, but you can’t make her learn.”
