I would agree that the DIKW model is not ideal. However, it does capture very intuitively the concept of knowledge being derived from data so I took it as a very simplistic entry point to better understand (and distinguish) terms like "data" and "knowledge". I added a few more references and mentioned critique, but will probably still keep it rather short (and therefore a bit superficial) because the focus of the book will be elsewhere.
