Revisiting the Choose Must playlist: Day 99

This was the last song of the series. I know it’s numbered as 99 — I’ll explain that tomorrow. But I wanted this to be celebratory. I also wanted it to be over. Which is funny, because as I sit here writing this watching the Democratic National Convention, I’m having very similar feelings about this year’s election. Let’s try and stay focused, though, shall we?

The basic idea here is carried out by a pair of tracks playing similar lines for the entire song. I dropped in additional pairs of guitars, with their own amp settings, to emphasize each new idea. I tried to make each section it’s own little festival, like a party going on in a large auditorium, where each seating section has a group of people you have a lot in common with, and you can’t wait to talk to and work with. Or maybe they’re different campaign events — an outdoor rally, an intimate fundraiser, a major press announcement — all working together to make a broader point.

I could go on, but I fear I’m a little distracted by the enormity of what’s at stake in this election, and the work we have in front of us. So, instead of going on about this one track, I’d suggest listening to the entire series, more than four hours worth of music, and get to work. This is not a spectator sport. Get in the arena.
