All life is practice.
I was never really good at it in the past. I would just expect things to fall into my lap, and boom I thought I was good; that wasn’t the case… I failed because I did not practice.
If you want to be focused in your life you have to practice at it. For example, if you lose focus on any given task(s), try taking it chunks at a time, slow down, relax your limbic system, & just do one thing at a time.
Whenever you have to do a task, just start by trying to work on it with minimal distractions for a period of time.
For example I like to use the Pomodoro technique; which is 25 minutes of complete focus and 5 minutes of break time. Taking a task in like this is great.
While I do this technique I also reduce my task to bite size pieces. When it comes to memorization, and I need to memorize 20 lines for a song, I first like to separate it by memorizing 5 lines at a time first rather than all 20 at once.
When I want to stay focused I take deep breaths to slow down my heart rate and begin to focus on a given task with a little bit more clearer mind. This allows me to truly narrow down.
Your ability to stay relaxed rather than stressed will allow you to maintain a longer focus. Let me explain why this works. In the book, Change Your Brain: Change Your Life, By, M.D. Daniel G, Amen explains how your limbic system, when relaxed, tends to filter information in a more accurate light. People who have a relaxed limbic system are more playful, sexier, positive, and they tend to draw people with a positive outlook.
Learn how to relax your body and give yourself positive affirmations. Tell yourself that you are a good person and that you can accomplish good things. Your mind is powerful, and when you fill your mind with negative thoughts you will be just that negative.
I try to do one thing at a time…. sometimes I fail and sometimes I am able to get something done which makes me incredibly happy. You can too! Just eliminate any distraction that is getting in your way.
If you want to be focused practice your focus by breaking down any task you want to accomplish make it easier for you to get to the end goal. Relax your limbic system and take deep breaths. Just do one thing at a time, and eventually you will get there!
