Spatial Intelligence: transforming Human and Robot Interaction
Robotics is undergoing a radical transformation. We may have already become aware of this by watching various videos from Boston Dynamics and similar companies, where quadrupedal robots or bipedal androids perform incredible feats.
In the era of converging technologies, a theme I discussed in the book Spatial Shift, each technological evolution we are experiencing influences and enhances other technologies, enabling new possibilities. The convergence of Artificial Intelligence and robotics, known as “Spatial Intelligence,” is perhaps the most potentially frightening and simultaneously fascinating for its possible impacts on humanity.
Investors such as Khosla Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, and General Catalyst are supporting several startups developing robots capable of advanced reasoning and visual data processing, demonstrating that interest in this topic is already quite advanced and that there are projects in development with validated results.
Spatial Intelligence allows robots to navigate and interact with the environment more efficiently, improving precision and adaptability in complex tasks, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency, and most importantly, showing how this segment can truly empower humans.
