Fashion Trends on Social Media are Disgustingly bad

How many times have you seen your friends or people at a mall wear the most downright goofiest attire you’ve layed your eyes on? Just for them to tell you that it’s a new trend on Tiktok or Instagram. It’s crazy to me how people will follow a “trend” regardless if it doesn’t look good. It’s almost like the influencers on social media are purposely doing this to see how far people would go to fit in.

A big trend that I’ve seen that relates to shoes and I understand that some people might have worn the shoes because they genuinely like how they look which I personally dislike the look of, but i’ll only be talking about the people who wore them for the trend of it. The Nike panda kicks are shoes i’ve seen a ton during my time in highschool, so often that they made my opinion of them go from not caring to just annoyance. For they’re very simple design of black and white lowtops that have the most basic format layout in Nike, you can’t find them for anything less than 100$, and it’s still a trend, it’s hard to believe that so many people genuinely liked the look of the shoes enough to buy them for 100$+ without any other outside reasoning.

Another one would be crocs. Now at first its obvious that it’s more for comfort than anything else but these aren’t any more comfortable than any other type of slippers, sandals or close toed sandals. At first, it didn’t seem like any one cared about their appearance but I remember stumbling upon a store of solely just croc charms and seeing people wearing cross with specialized charms added on to them, to make them look “cute” or “pretty”. I’m thinking that if the look of it mattered to begin with, you should’ve bought something completely different to begin with. So many people wear it because they see other people wear it, they don’t stop to think of their own personal opinion on it, and just follow whoever in front to fit in.
