Very well articulated — and I couldn’t agree more. Medium is more focused on driving people to member-only stories, to drive membership conversions up.

Thanks for the response. As I imagined, none of the statements are based in real data. That concerns me. You are making statements about your own experience with those apps. And you are criticizing their inconsistency with harsh language (to me, calling something “a mess” is a negative critique, sorry) as if you knew for a fact people care about that.
