The Big Deal About Social Change

In 2016, precisely a week ago, a young man told me he does not believe there is anything called rape. First he does not believe a man should have an amoral attitude to sex. Yet he does not believe that — no matter the struggle involved — a man can subdue a woman and have carnal knowlege of her without her finally willingly consenting. I told him not to have this argument in public so as not to be lynched by people who have been raped.

I tried to change his mindset by talking to him for over an hour but it proved futile. Time is money but I pennned down that as as an expense in my social change venture.

I then tried to delete his phone number from my phone - that should be easier, so I will not have anything to do with a person with such ideology anymore.

One week later, I am still trying to wrap my head around that discussion.

So, I called him this morning and asked clearly, 'Do you think a man can rape a woman?’.

  • His response: "I have thought so hard about everything you said to me about rape and I have realised that a lot of women are suffering for things they did not bring upon themselves. No one deserves to be raped. I’m sorry I got it all twisted all these years but after we spoke I got the entire concept of rape."

I called him because I did not want him to keep wandering in social circles with that mindset and possibly gathering other disciples. Deleting his number would only make me have a thousand friends less one, but I would be doing the world a disservice if I fail to make a change where and when I have the opportunity to do so.

What does it take to renew mindsets?
What does it take to change our society? What does it take to make the world a better place?

It is the continuous and collective effort of you and I — impact one life, change the world!

When I preach Lifebleach some people think it is only about business, travel, fun or getting together. No. It is beyond that. Way beyond that. It is about a mindset paradigm. It is about a shift in our attitude. It is a total redirection of our perspective about life. It is a call to make a difference. It is a concept, a platform, an avenue for social change.

When I use the tagline "making life fairer ", It is about wanting better than good. It is about not settling for less than you deserve in life. It is about making people realise that it is our duty to do our bit as individuals and collectively our small efforts will make a difference.

  • What are you doing about social change today? What effort are you putting to make sure you do not leave the world the way you met it?

Social change is a big deal.

Lifebleach is not an experiment, Lifebleach is a new way of living. Embrace it!
