and “discontinue from service” does not include any of this posturing and self-aggrandizing psychological violence from Zunger, one of their most famous representatives (at the company still or not).
It’s identical to the same psychological violence women have felt enacted upon them in the workplace, if not many times worse. It’s pretty obvious. How would you feel. You think you’ve never made a mistake that would cause someone to act that way. Come on now. People misunderstand things all the time, only to have the person in power completely destroy them. It’s not cool.
This isn’t a stretch. The challenge is people have a hard time putting themselves in another’s shoes when they have black and white thinking that leads them to think it would mean invalidating their viewpoint. It’s not true.
2 wrongs don’t make a right, and it’s possible to maintain these 2 perspectives at the same time. I’m not saying it’s easy and we’ll always have our individual blind spots, but with commitment you can usually find a scenario for why any perspective has some sort of meaning. And as a matter of principle you should force yourself to open yourself to perspectives that make you mad, you fear, etc. That’s how you attain the biggest picture.
