I find the “vegan freegan” a bit disturbing. The leather industry started off that way – as a byproduct of murdered animals – but it now is a co-product, or even the primary product, as humans have found its many applications in the fashion/sartorial-accessories business. Using apparently free things often creates a demand hitherto unknown, spawning a new industry. Freegan scavenging, too, therefore, might just lead straight back to the norm of animal agruculture murder as the freegan principles and rationale are likely to get forgotten over time. Would love to know your thoughts on this aspect. 💚
