Write like you talk
Nathan Kontny

This is interesting because I recently shot my second short film and the actresses were fine. The interesting aspect of shooting is while we were in between cuts the actresses were having a conversation. And what’s odd is the style in which they conversed. Soon as I said action, they were acting again. But the style in which they conversed was more engaging than the film style. And given the film was in interview format, it would have been nice to ask them to act in the way in which they were having a mundane conversation. Their mundane conversation went so well because there was no pressure to perform, they were themselves. The same is in regards to writing; stop trying to be too compelling, but be careful to not be interesting enough.
